Hallam Career Mentoring

The Hallam Career Mentoring Scheme matches student mentees with industry professionals who can offer a real insight into working life within a relevant role or industry. Students and mentors work together between December and May, and typically meet online or in person four times during this period. The scheme recruits mentors in October/November each year. Register your interest to take part in 2024.

Subject specific opportunities

Department of Engineering and Maths - Meet the Graduates

The Department of Engineering and Maths holds an annual 'Meet the Graduates' event where alumni come back to campus to share their careers stories with students to engage them in thinking about their employability and options after university. The next event is February 2025 at Sheffield City Campus. Register your interest

EngFest 2024

EngFest is an annual event where final year engineering students present their work for feedback. This year's event is taking place in March 2025 at Sheffield City Campus.

Alumni from aerospace, automotive and mechanical disciplines are invited to join students and faculty staff at the event to view the student's work to offer advice and industry perspectives. Register your interest to find out more.

Guest speakers for career talks in Psychology

The careers talks give students a chance to explore various careers they might consider after completing their degree. Choosing the best career option is a path that requires research and insider knowledge about the different roles that are available. Many of our students get lost in the process, so we would like to invite Hallam alumni (ideally with a psychology degree) to share their career paths and industry knowledge. The sessions generally run on Wednesdays at 3 pm. Based on student feedback, these career options are very desirable for our students:

Assistant Psychologist
Clinical Associate in Psychology
Occupational psychologist
Counselling Psychologist
Teacher or any other roles in education sector
Business related careers where psychology is beneficial: HR, management consultant or manager in the organisation, marketing role

Register your interest next semester (September 2024).

Finance, Accounting and Business Systems (FABS) careers fair

Alumni are invited to get involved in the next FABS careers fair which is held in October each year at City Campus. We are seeking alumni to participate in CV workshops and one-to-one 'café' style conversations with students to offer career insight and advice. The time commitment is 1-2 hours or more. Employers are also welcome to exhibit at the event if they are interested in recruiting graduates, offering work experience and/or raising the profile of their organisation. Register your interest.
