Transforming the University Atrium

Friday 01 February 2019

As part our 20-year Campus Masterplan, we are beginning a project to completely refurbish and improve an area which lays at the heart of Sheffield Hallam – the University Atrium. This exciting piece of work has been brought forward to phase 1 of the developments, providing a great opportunity to transform the space into a modern yet tranquil area to work and socialise.

The work will include a replacement of the Atrium's high glazed ceiling, which will produce better natural lighting and enhanced insulation. There will also be new catering outlets placed in Heartspace and Cutting Edge, along with attractive finishes to walls, floors and circulation areas.

The refurbishment will signal our commitment to invest in the campus, and to create a unique space which reflects the vibrancy of Sheffield. The project is set to be complete by Christmas 2020, and it is hoped that the stylish area will continue to be a haven for our staff and students to enjoy.

The improvements will contribute to our long-term ambition of developing a campus in the heart of our city which is both welcoming and attractive to visitors of Sheffield.
