How our alumni are creating opportunities for students across the globe

Friday 29 June 2018

Santander Universities is the world's largest corporate social responsibility programme in the world and as part of its ongoing partnership with Sheffield Hallam has provided 15 final year Sheffield Business School students with travel bursaries to undertake international work-related learning projects to enhance their language skills and business experience. Visits to Austria, Spain, Finland and the Netherlands have taken place this year. Three students undertook a project provided by Sheffield Business School alumnus Manuel Moriana Galisteo. Since obtaining his MSc in International Business Management in 2014, Manuel has become Export Manager of Especias, a spice manufacturer and exporter based in Cordoba, Spain. The funding enabled the students to travel to Spain in January to meet their client face to face, tour the factory and discuss their research project in greater depth. The students were tasked with conducting market research to further internationalise the firm into European markets.

Following the visit, Emma D'Amery (final year Languages with International Business) said "The opportunity to go abroad and work with a successful international enterprise was fantastic and has given us first-hand experience and insight in the world of trade and export which is very valuable".

You are part of a global network of alumni who can benefit from the opportunities this programme develops and in turn help our current students to deepen their own international networks and leave us world-ready.
