Meet the team
Sade Allott, Specialist Dietitian
Sade worked as a dietitian at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for six years. She has wide-ranging clinical knowledge and experience in optimising nutrition in patients with various conditions. Sade has been involved in developing patient information and service evaluation projects. Sade is responsible for providing nutritional intervention and support.
Katie Evans, Senior Administrator
Katie joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2017 and has
carried out a range of administrative activities in a variety of roles across
the University.
Katie is responsible for leading on all administrative
activities for Active Together including managing organisation of appointments
and consultations.
Gabbi Frith, Project Officer
Gabbi joined Sheffield Hallam in 2013 following the completion of her Masters. Her research has focused on physical activity in the prevention and management of chronic disease. She is also a qualified Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation trainer. Gabbi is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating Active Together. She will also be delivering exercise sessions and workshops.
Suzanne Hodson, Specialist Physiotherapist
Suzanne has been working for Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust since 2002, where she has developed and led the provision of physiotherapy to cancer patients and is the lead cancer specialist physiotherapist within the trust. Suzanne is responsible for carrying out initial assessments and supports the Project Officers.
Jonny Hyman, Senior Fitness Instructor
Jonny first started working at Sheffield Hallam University in 2007 as a fitness instructor, while studying a BSc degree in Sports and Exercise Science. Jonny has also completed an MSc in Applied Sports and Exercise Science and is a qualified Level 3 Exercise Referral Instructor and Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation Instructor. Jonny is responsible for delivering both in person and remote exercise sessions.
Carol Keen, Consultant AHP
Carol has worked as a physiotherapist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for 20 years, rehabilitating patients with cancer and is passionate about offering patients the support that they need to allow them do thing things that are important to them. She has been involved in research projects including cancer prehabilitation, and she is close to completing her PhD. Carol is responsible for leading the clinical team and also provides physiotherapy support.
Dr Katie Pickering, Project Officer
Katie joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2018 following the completion of her PhD. Since 2005, she has worked on projects to design, deliver and evaluate community lifestyle behaviour change interventions. She led on the development and evaluation of the NEWDAY-ABC trial. She is also a qualified Level 4 Cancer Rehabilitation and Cardiac Rehabilitation trainer. Katie is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating Active Together.
Dr Mike Thelwell, Project Officer
Mike joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2016 to undertake an MSc before going on to complete his PhD in advanced human measurement. Mike's research focuses the use of 3D body scanning to improve the assessment of physical health. Mike is responsible for designing and evaluating Active Together. He will be providing technical support to patients in using their wearable activity monitoring devices.
