Through motors these machines eliminate the need for users to provide the motive force to overcome inertia, supporting an active assisted range of motion. Power-assisted exercise machines have significant value in the UK leisure industry, particularly for promoting active ageing amongst older adults. They provide a safe and accessible option in a controlled environment, benefitting cardiovascular health, muscle strength and bone health, and helping older adults to maintain their independence and functional abilities, ultimately enhancing quality of life.
The Assisted Gamified Exercise for All (AGE4A) project has developed a new, intelligent, digital system to enable users to achieve their personal training goals. This multi-disciplinary project has integrated expertise from several organisations to co-design, prototype and evaluate a new generation of power assisted exercise equipment which will enhance the wellbeing of users and enable operators and health care providers to monitor progress and engagement.
