Sheffield Hallam is proud to hold a Stonewall Workplace Equality Index Silver Award for our commitment to LGBTQ+ staff – this is for our work around raising awareness, policy and process review and our reach out into the community.

Our vision is to create and sustain a safe, inclusive culture where diversity is valued and celebrated. To echo Stonewall's vision, 'People perform better when they can be themselves.'

We are committed to providing a working environment for all our employees that is free of harassment, bullying and victimisation, and where everyone is treated with dignity and respect. Our Dignity at Work Policy clearly outlines all behaviours outlawed under the Equality Act 2010 including examples of homophobic, biphobic and transphobic behaviours that will not be tolerated.

LGBT History Month provides a perfect opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate the achievements of LGBT+ people, honour key milestones and turning points in LGBT+ history, and recognise the hard fought and won battles for LGBT+ rights and equality across the world – many still ongoing.
