Libraries

The Library is here to support every student at Sheffield Hallam University to become an independent learner and to be successful. Your library can make a difference for you, no matter your individual circumstance or level of skill and knowledge.

There are two campus libraries, Adsetts Library at City campus and Collegiate Library at Collegiate campus. Your libraries are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There are over 2450 learning spaces to support your independent study, with quiet and silent areas for reading or individual study, and flexible collaborative rooms and spaces to work with course mates.

Your library provides you with access to the knowledge you will need for your course, through tailored reading lists and subject guides. These include books, journals, specialist databases and media resources. Many of these are available online and can be accessed from anywhere.

Your library provides dedicated services and resources to support your research. We lead on developing an open research agenda across the university, enabling you to increase the reach and impact of your research.

The Library’s Skills Centre offers inclusive, academic skills development to all students, enabling you to build your skills and confidence as an independent learner through webinars, 1-1 appointments and online bootcamps. Sessions cover a wide range of topics, including critical writing, presentation skills, dissertations, digital skills, referencing and information skills. Essential Skills, the library’s online collection of skills resources and study guides, allows you to develop your skills at your own pace.
