Summary
As Chief Finance Officer, Ryan reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and has primary responsibility for the University's financial strategy, ensuring continued financial success and the delivery of investment priorities to secure the achievement of the University's vision. Ryan plays a key role in supporting and enabling delivery of the University strategy; ensuring robust and resilient financial planning and management; continued investment in innovation and development; and ensuring compliance with external regulatory requirements.
About
Ryan brings strong and varied financial leadership experience, including roles at Manchester Metropolitan University, the University of Nottingham, and Pearl Assurance. Prior to joining Sheffield Hallam, he held the position of Director of Finance and Commercial Services at Sheffield City Council.
Ryan is a third-generation Sheffielder, who grew up in the city before leaving for university studies and work, returing almost 20 years ago. He was, like many of students and staff, the first in his family to attend university, and recognises the power that university education has to change lives and life chances for those who benefit from it.
Ryan has an economics degree from Loughborough University and is a Chartered Management Accountant.
