As Group Director of Student and Academic Services, Alison provides direction and leadership, and a strong focus on operational delivery for a breadth of student-facing services; Academic Services, Directorate and College Operations, Library and Campus Services, Student Support Services and Technical Operations, Resources and Services.

She also has a lead role in Safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities and compliance, and in cross institutional projects focused on the student experience.
Alison was appointed to the role of Group Director of Student and Academic Services in November 2023, having joined Sheffield Hallam in August 2019 as Director of Academic Services.
Prior to joining Hallam, she held the Director of Academic Services role at Birmingham City University and also worked at both De Montfort University and London Metropolitan University as University Secretary.
Alison was the first of her family to go into Higher Education and is passionate about the power of education to open up opportunity and improve life chances for students from all backgrounds. She has a degree in English Literature from the University of Bristol and a graduate qualification in Personnel Management.
