Sally Freeman RN, RM, PGCE, MA, FHEA
Lead Link Lecturer
Summary
I am the module leader for Midwifery Challenges for the Pregnancy module. I am a proud and passionate midwife and I became a lecturer to spread the word of what a wonderfully privileged career being a midwife is, and also to influence the future generation of midwives. I thoroughly enjoy both the teaching and discussion my role allows me to have with my students, of whom I am full of admiration. I love engaging with families at recruitment events, and consider this an essential aspect of my role.
About
I have worked as a senior lecturer at SHU since 2011, and was course leader between 2015 and 2018. I am now the Lead Link Lecturer for midwifery. I was a college 'inspirational teacher' in 2015 and have since had regular nominations for this award. I am a link lecturer linking with the Barnsley maternity unit. I have 25 years of clinical midwifery experience, and remain as passionate about midwifery now, as when I first qualified. Being a midwife defines my whole being and I consider my students to be part of my caseload now.
