Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in Digital Media Production


Summary

Richard is currently Course Leader for BA (Hons) Digital Media Production and teaches a range of modules that focus on the development of digital media, including Digital Media Technologies, Web Based Media and Applications, App Design and Development, and Digital Media Futures. He also teaches on the MA in Digital Media Management. Richard has worked in Higher Education since January 2000, initially in the areas of educational multimedia development and technology enhanced learning, and more recently in teaching and course leadership.

About

Richard began his career in Higher Education at Sheffield Hallam University, where he worked in various roles in the Learning and Teaching Institute between January 2000 and July 2011. These included Multimedia Courseware Developer, Senior Learning Technologist, and Senior Lecturer in Creative Development, a role which focused on innovative use of technology in learning, teaching and assessment. 

Since September 2011, he has focused on teaching and has continued to work at Sheffield Hallam University, teaching numerous modules for various degree programmes, with more recent work focusing on teaching on the Digital Media Production programme. 

This work at Sheffield Hallam has been alongside teaching on the Games Design programme at the University of Huddersfield, and working as Programme Director for the Information Technology and Organisations degree programme in the Department for Lifelong Learning at the University of Sheffield. 

Richard has a BA in Industrial Design and Technology from Loughborough University, an MSc in Designing Worldwide Interactive Systems from the University of Huddersfield, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education from Sheffield Hallam University. Richard is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
