Summary
I have worked at Sheffield Hallam since September 2003, starting off as a lecturer and moving on to become the course leader for the BSc (Hon) Occupational Therapy in 2005. Since moving away from this role in 2014 I have taken on a role in supporting the academic delivery managers in the department with assessment-related matters, whilst continuing to teach on our undergraduate, pre-registration masters and distance learning masters.
About
My clinical expertise is in the musculoskeletal arena, with rheumatology as a particular interest. I am specifically interested in how people adaptation to living with a chronic musculoskeletal condition. My masters concentrated on the validation of an instrument to assess the adherence to joint protection behaviours in people with rheumatoid arthritis. I completed my masters at Wayne State University in Detroit, USA.
I have an interest in how the occupational therapy profession is developing world wide, as well as an interest in how changes in (European) healthcare are affecting the profession.
I am a member of the College of Occupational Therapists Specialist Section on Rheumatology and the British Health Professionals in Rheumatology.
I am a member of the College of Occupational Therapists, the Dutch Occupational Therapy Association as well as the World Federation of Occupational Therapists

No current external examining duties. I have recently been involved in reviews of Dutch occupational therapy programmes.
