Summary
I have completed a number of major projects in this area, a total of over £3m including; an ESRC project, involving older adults in setting the research agenda, an MRC funded project looking at developing self-management strategies for the management of chronic pain in older adults; a COST collaborative project looking at assessment of pain in those with cognitive impairment and a SBRI project looking at the use of technology for the self-management of pain in older adults (Chatbot).
I am an examiner on the European Diploma in Pain Medicine and I have been a member of the curriculum group developing the European Diploma for Pain Nurses. Last year I led the European Year against pain in vulnerable populations and I was co-chair of the Global year against Pain in Vulnerable Populations. I have published over 200 peer reviewed publications (H-index 20) and 15 books/book chapters in the field of pain and ageing.
