Dr Olivia Ramsbottom PhD SFHEA MSc BA (Hons)
Senior Lecturer - Strategic Management
Summary
I am a senior lecturer with expertise in project and strategic management. This is based on additional experience as a trainer and consultant, and 16 years of experience working as a manager. This professional experience is supported by high level qualifications including most recently a PhD and previously an MSc and teaching qualifications.
Currently I am concentrating on developing teaching and learning tools for professionals, supporting my belief in the contextualisation and application of theories and models as essential for embedding knowledge. I am also developing a strategic thinking book to reflect recent, exciting developments in the field of strategic management.
About
I am currently a Module Tutor and Supervisor on a range of project and strategic management modules at Sheffield Hallam University.
I was previously at the University of Derby, where I was Programme Leader and Module Leader for a range of business management degrees and modules, again with the specialism in project and strategic management.
I enjoy supervising research at all levels, from undergraduate to doctoral level and I am a trainer for small businesses and have taught on business training programmes such as Help 2 Grow.
Prior to becoming a lecturer, I worked at a variety of private and public sector organisations as a manager. I worked at the York Multimedia Network at the birth of the internet when businesses were figuring out what benefits it held for them! Since then I've worked at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Medical Research Council, as well as in a management role at the University of Derby. This professional experience supports my interest in the contextualisation and application of theories and models, and the adaptation of those for different environments.
