Research Institute Manager
Summary
I am the Research Institute Manager for the Social & Economic Research Institute (SERI). Leading the SERI Research & Innovation Services (RIS) team I am responsible for the planning and organising of professional services support and processes within the Institute. Working closely with the Research Institute Director and Innovation Manager, I make up part of the Research Institute Leadership Team enabling effective and impactful research delivery in line with University strategic objectives. I work alongside other Research Institute Managers and RIS colleagues to ensure collaborative approaches to process improvement and consistency of support across Research & Innovation Services. Much of my day-to-day activity involves Institute communications, Policy awareness and advising, supporting academic colleagues in identifying and responding to funding opportunities, oversight of doctoral provision, staffing & HR, oversight of REF support and Health & Safety. I am a member of the Institute Management Group, RIS Operations Group and the Converis system Governance Group. I have over 20 years research support experience and am currently undertaking an Executive MBA at SHU.
About
Her duties in this role include
- financial planning and monitoring of budgets
- project monitoring and liaison
- management of CRESR processes including provision of management information to the wider University
- supporting tender processing and project delivery.
