Elizabeth Noble

Elizabeth Noble BA MA

Associate Head

Summary

As an Associate Head for the Sheffield Creative Industries Institute I serve as a vital bridge for students moving from Further Education, through University Studies and into their working career.

About

One of my key roles is to act as a champion, not just for Sheffield Hallam University, but for all Creative Industries, managing events and outreach across schools, colleges, and youth associations, supporting students in their future plans and applications.

With a background of working with Foundation year students, I aimed to help students get to grips with the world of Art & Design, giving them the understanding and context to springboard into their continuing education. I specialise in visual communications, and as such promote the use of sketchbooks, a vital tool in encouraging creativity, visual experimentation and playful idea generation.

With a broad career history as a freelance visual communicator, I have been privileged to work in many different sectors but have had most satisfaction in working with museums and galleries, connecting hard to reach groups through unique projects and workshops. My work with the National Saturday Art Group is a continuation of this, offering support and guidance to 13-16 years olds from the Sheffield area.

Having worked in the academic environment for several decades I have always been passionate about keeping things accessible, fresh and inspiring for students, working closely with associates and the student body to ensure that the course is producing a cohort of skilled, creative and enthused individuals ready for the working environment.
