Keeley Fletcher LLB, PG DiP

Senior Lecturer In Law

Summary

I have over six years practical experience working in the legal sector at a range of different levels. For four years I specialised in Family Law with some Civil Litigation work undertaken in the last two years of my private practice. I represented clients dealing with divorce, finances, public and private law children matters as well as family law injunctions.

About

My experience in practice involved not only providing legal advice but representation of client's cases at The Family Court, before; Magistrates, District and Circuit Judges. I have experience conducting advocacy within a plethora of hearings ranging from directions/case management hearings to final contested hearings cross examining expert witnesses.

Over the years I worked closely with Derbyshire Domestic Violence and Sexual Abuse Service (DDVSA) providing legal advice and support to male and female victims of domestic abuse. In addition I developed and presented training to DDVSA on key legal matters and the impact on domestic violence within divorce, finances and children cases.

I joined the Law Department at Hallam in 2015.

I have a particular interest in Clinical Legal Education as I strongly believe that acquiring an understanding of the law in practice as well as at an academic level is fundamental to student's employability.

As a result of my own experience I have a specialist interest in Family Law with an emphasis on domestic violence and its impact on the family unit.
