Dr Jonathan Wainwright BSc (Hons), PGCE, MBA, EdD
Principal Lecturer
Summary
I joined Sheffield Hallam in 2004. My background as a secondary school science teacher and my work in organisational development, together with a stint at Lancaster University Management School, seemed to be ideal preparation for my appointment as a lecturer in educational leadership and management.
About
The first couple of years here were spent working with educational leaders who were studying for Master's degrees. Subsequently, I worked as lead tutor for the National Professional Qualification for Integrated Centre Leaders (NPQICL) which we delivered in partnership with the Carnegie Centre (at Leeds Met) and the National College for School Leadership. This was my introduction to working in the early year's sector and I now specialise in leadership and management within this field. My role has now expanded to take on responsibility for marketing and recruitment and as such I am a member of the department leadership team.
Previous roles include
Teaching Fellow, Lancaster University Management School
Organisational Development Consultant, HBOS plc
Management Development Consultant, Lucas Engineering and Systems
Training Manager, Lloyds TSB

My doctorate took a biographical approach examining how children's centre leaders' professional and personal biographies have influenced their understanding and practice of leadership.
