Senior Lecturer in Mental Health Nursing

Summary

I am a senior lecturer at Hallam for half of the week - the other half of my time I continue to work as a Nurse Consultant in Adult Mental Health within a local NHS Trust.  My role therefore bridges academic and clinical practice.

About

I have worked as a Mental Health Nurse for over two decades in a variety of clinical, managerial and strategic roles. I joined Hallam on a part time basis in 2017and lecture on a range of subject areas relative to mental health nursing.   I am passionate about person centred care, quality of life approaches to mental well-being, and psychologically informed nursing practice.  In my clinical role, I currently oversee a newly designed care pathway which aims to improve the physical health of those who have a long term mental health problem.  I am a registered independent prescriber, and teach on the non-medical prescribing module.  More recently I have been involved in developing content of Mental Health Advanced Clinical Practice modules, and will be leading a module on Interventions and Evaluation in the near future.
