Ian Sharpe
Summary
I joined the university in 1995 and since then, I have been a course leader for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in finance and banking, a personal tutor, a placement tutor and I am currently responsible for recruiting undergraduate students to Sheffield Business School. My teaching mainly relates to economics, banking and financial markets but I also run a module that investigates the big issues that are affecting financial services firms and the strategies that these firms are pursuing.
Prior to joining the university, I worked for a bank and I have a range of contacts who work in finance. This enables me to link my teaching to real-world developments and to draw upon the experience of individuals working in banking and insurance. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a qualified banker and I have an MBA from Durham University.
Undergraduate teaching interests - macroeconomics - financial markets and institutions - investment banking - international financial markets - strategic issues in financial services.
Postgraduate teaching interests - banking and financial markets.
