About

I teach across various programmes within the Academy of Sport and Physical Activity (both undergraduate and post graduate) but predominantly Sport Development and Sport Coaching courses due to my industry experience and interests. My teaching philosophy is focussed upon 'learner centred' approaches with a drive towards developing confident, creative, resilient and autonomous graduates. I believe this is paramount in the dynamic and challenging world in which we live. As well as my involvement at SHU, longitudinal experience of working with other Higher Education institutions through both External Examiner and collaborative roles allows me to appreciate the importance of maintaining professional standards and to strive for excellence in my own practice. I am a strong advocate of self-improvement throughout the learners journey.

Current areas of interest include physical literacy of young people and the multi skills environment. I also manage the international 'UK Sport IDEALS programme' which involves student placement opportunities in Tanzania.
