Summary
Helen is a senior lecturer in the Physiotherapy team and the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Course Leader at Sheffield Hallam University. Helen has extensive experience of teaching, learning and assessment of both undergraduates and postgraduate students in Higher Education and is an active Fellow of the Higher Educational Academy. Her role as Undergraduate Course Leader involves ensuring consistent, high quality delivery of the under-graduate physiotherapy programme. Helen teaches on both the undergraduate and post-graduate physiotherapy programmes. Her areas of specialist interest are educational delivery, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and exercise prescription.
About
Helen qualified as a physiotherapist in 1989 and has worked clinically for many years specialising in musculoskeletal rehabilitation. She joined Sheffield Hallam University in 2002 gaining her Certificate in Learning and Teaching in 2003 and her Master's in Manipulative Physiotherapy in 2006.
During her time at Hallam, Helen has had a variety of roles including module leader for both undergraduate and postgraduate modules, assessments officer, course leader for MSc Applying Physiotherapy and MSc Advancing Physiotherapy Practice. Since March 2015 Helen has been the course leader for BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Course Leader.
Helen currently teaches on both the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. She has experience in teaching a wide variety of health professionals. She has experience teaching in international environments dealing with a variety of cultural backgrounds. Helen became a member of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) in 2013 and is part of the Concepts of Learning and Teaching team that holds HEA accreditation. Helen is also a qualified Level 3 Fitness Instructor for Exercise referral for Specific Controlled Conditions and a Level 2
Fitness Instructor Gym Based exercise. She is an active member of the exercise team at Sheffield Hallam delivering quality exercise teaching leading to vocational awards in fitness instruction within the undergraduate curriculum.
