Dr Gabija Toleikyte BSc, MSc, PhD
Lecturer in Psychology
Summary
I have started my work at Sheffield Hallam University as an Associate Lecturer in 2019 and was appointed a full-time Lecturer position in 2021. My current research interests are in creating tools based on heart-rate variability (HRV) to assess the cognitive wellbeing and effectiveness of psychological interventions.
About
I completed my PhD at UCL in 2015 on the neuroscience of memory and navigation and my PhD research findings were published in Nature Neuroscience Journal in 2017. Following my PhD I have developed and delivered a series of applied neuroscience and psychology seminars for business clients (including Google, Oath, Financial Times, Transport For London, Lloyds Bank), public sector (UCL, Birkbeck college, Welsh Government). I have also delivered these seminars for over 10 000 attendees from the general public and recently published a book on the neuroscience and psychology of change for the general public and businesses (Why The F*ck Can't I Change?: the insights from a neuroscientist to show that you can). Prior to my current position, I have also lectured on an online MSc in Applied Neuroscience in Organisations via Middlesex University. I have started my work at Sheffield Hallam University as an Associate Lecturer in 2019 and was appointed a full-time Lecturer position in 2021. At SHU I have been delivering lectures and seminars on the following modules: Cognitive Neuroscience Methods, Cognition and Perception Across the Lifespan, Applying Psychology, Cognitive Processes and Psychobiology, Cognitive Psychobiology, The Psychology of Education, The Practice of Psychology, Positive Psychology, Processes of Psychology, Developmental and Social Psychology, Psychological Well-being and Individual Differences for BSc and MSc students. I am also co-lead of The Practice of Psychology module and supervise student dissertations on BSc in Criminology.
