Emily Branch BSc (Hons). MCSP
Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy & SHU Physiotherapy Clinic Lead
Summary
I am a Senior Lecturer in Physiotherapy and I manage the Sheffield Hallam University Physiotherapy clinic which can be accessed by staff, students and external users. I am a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and split my time between academic and clinical work.
About
After graduating from my Physiotherapy degree in 2016, I joined a local NHS trust and did 3 years of rotations as a Junior Physiotherapist, gaining experience in a number of different specialisms. I specialised in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy following this within the NHS.
Prior to working at Sheffield Hallam, I was an Advanced Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, working mostly with patients who had complex MSK Pathologies and Persistent Pain. I have a particular interest in the holistic management of this patient group. In this role, I also redesigned and grew our placement offers to students which is where my passion of education began, and led to me starting my role at Sheffield Hallam in September 2023.
I am still working clinically within both the SHU Physiotherapy Clinic and in private practice. As well as my interest in treating people who are experiencing persistent pain, I also have an interest in shoulder conditions and running-related injuries.
I am currently studying for my MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice: Musculoskeletal Management.
