Dr Deblina Majumder PhD, MSc, BSc
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Summary
I am working as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate (PDRA) in the project, GRIFFIN – Hot Gas Raman Identification and Measurement for the Foundation Industries, funded by Innovate UK. I joined in Professor Paul A. Bingham’s group at Sheffield Hallam University on 6th July 2021. Before joining at Sheffield Hallam University, I was associated to S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, India as a Visiting Scientist and Postdoctoral Research Associate till May 2021.
I was awarded with PhD in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, India in 2019 and the major emphasis of my doctoral research work was given on controlled synthesis of multifunctional nanostructured metal oxides for sensor development and environmental remediation. I pursued my Masters of Science in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, India with specialization in Organic Chemistry. I gained Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Chemistry from University of Calcutta, India.
About
Under the current strategy of a zero-carbon economy in UK, my contribution lies in detecting and mitigating carbon emission from foundation industries. The major aim of my project is to deliver a transformative instrument for helping the glass, cement and ceramics industries to decarbonise, utilising analytical Raman gas spectroscopy technique.
I am a research enthusiast, having in-depth knowledge in chemistry and applied material science. I hold expertise in synthesising heterogeneous catalyst nanomaterials, surface functionalization and thorough characterizations for targeted applications. Being an application oriented researcher, I am well versed in statistical data analysis and associated field work for real time deployments.
