Summary
I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Guelph followed by a postgraduate degree in Nursing at the University of Toronto. Upon completion of my studies I worked as a nurse in both acute and community settings in Canada, Australia and then England. Public Health is my passion and I have worked in this field for over 14 years. I trained as a Health Visitor at Sheffield Hallam University and, prior to joining the university at a lecturer, I was working as a Contraception and Sexual Health specialist nurse.
About
My main teaching focuses are Public Health and Sexual Health. I currently teach nursing & midwifery students, Physician Associate students and the pharmacists who are undertaking their independent prescribing qualification. I also teach across all our health courses within our interprofessional education module which focuses on quality improvement through service development and leadership within a collaborative setting.
I am involved in supporting Mentors & Practice Supervisors in practice and I am involved in facilitating their supervision updates.
Further to my work in the University I also facilitate sexual health updates with general practice nurses and doctors in community.
Other activities
I am an examiner for the Physician Associate National Exams.
