About

I started my career as an apprentice QS for a small contractor, often working on site in various locations around the UK. I then moved to work overseas in a facilities management capacity overseeing the condition and quality of the clients' asset portfolio, before returning to the UK and working as a senior QS for an independent Sheffield based firm and finally as a Senior Cost manager for Turner & Townsend. Throughout my career, I have experience of working on projects from £5k to £65million, in many different sectors both for clients and contractors alike covering numerous aspects of the quantity surveying role. It is this real life experience which I bring to my teaching at SHU; to put the theory into practice. I joined Sheffield Hallam University as a Senior Lecturer specialising in all aspects of Quantity Surveying and have previously worked as the Employability Lead for the Built Environment. That role enabled me to maintain close links with industry and set up an Employers Advisory Board with over 60 employers. The board actively contributes to our courses and engage with us on a regular basis to ensure we are delivering students with skills the industry need. Other activities Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
