Summary

As a Chartered Surveyor from private practice, I was drawn to academia through my own personal academic journey and reflection on the decline of the Uk's high street. Having worked in high street property, both professionally and by way of retail developments, I have witnessed the slow and painful reversal of the functionality of our town centres over the last 30 years. My academic journey collaborates with many of the built environment's professions from regeneration, planning and built environment research to a more dedicated 'hands-on' Place Management and Leadership.

About

I am a Chartered Surveyor by profession and have worked in the property industry for over 30 years, dealing with professional work within retail property (lease renewals and rent reviews), as well as being involved in numerous commercial and residential developments projects across the UK.  My main interests revolve around declining town centres and sustainable solutions to revitalise our towns and cities. Having completed a MSc in Place Management and Leadership I have a wider understanding of solution-based interventions to bring town centres back to life. Additionally, from a planning point I undertook a MA in Planning-Built Environments at Birmingham City University. Prior to this I obtained a Post Graduate Diploma in Built Environment Research from The University of Salford and a further Post Graduate Diploma in Urban Regeneration and Planning from The University of Manchester.
