Dr. Aliyuda Ali BSc, MSc, PhD, MIET
Lecturer in Computer Science and Software Engineering
Summary
I am a dedicated educator and researcher, currently working as a Lecturer in computer science and software engineering at Sheffield Hallam University. I teach on the Computer Science, Computer Science with AI, and Software Engineering courses. With over a decade of experience in academia, I have had the privilege of sharing my knowledge and passion for technology with students and industry partners at various institutions across the United Kingdom and abroad. I am interested in PhD supervision and research consultancy.
My research interests focus on developing novel technology-driven solutions, including AI, ML, Data Analytics, and Software applications, to achieve the following Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): (1) Good health and well-being (SDG3), (2) Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7), and (3) Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG9).
About
I hold a PhD in Automatic Control and Systems Engineering from the University of Sheffield, UK, an MSc. and a BSc. in Computer Science from Usmanu Danfodiyo University and Gombe State University, respectively.
Currently, I work as a Lecturer in Computer Science and Software Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University, UK, a role I have held since January 2024. Before this, I was an Assistant Lecturer in Computer Science at Birmingham City University from September 2021 to January 2024, where I taught various courses and guided students in their academic pursuits.
My journey in academia in the UK began at the University of Sheffield, where I worked as a Research Associate from April 2021 to August 2021, contributing to cutting-edge research projects in the field of computer science. Before that, I worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the same institution from September 2018 to March 2021, where I pursued my PhD, honed my teaching skills, and provided support to both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
My passion for education and technology traces back to my time as a Lecturer in Computer Science at Gombe State University in Nigeria, where I spent six years from October 2011 to October 2017, inspiring and nurturing the next generation of computer scientists.
Throughout my career, I have been committed to staying at the forefront of technological advancements, continuously expanding my knowledge and skills to provide my students and industry partners with the most up-to-date and relevant information. I firmly believe in fostering a collaborative and engaging learning and research environment, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and a deep understanding of computer science principles.
