Sheffield Institute of Education's Dr Bronwen Maxwell has won the award for Inspirational Research Supervisor at the 2018 Faculty of Development & Society Awards.
The Inspirational Research Supervisory Awards were drawn from a university-wide pool of 122 nominations by students. Bronwen took the prize at the Awards ceremony in June alongside recipients of Inspirational Teaching Awards.
Bronwen is the Deputy Head of SIoE's Centre for Development and Research in Education where she leads the substantial portfolio of commissioned research. She has extensive experience of directing large-scale national and regional research and evaluation projects. Her research, publications, supervision and teaching is focused on: policy and practice impact and implementation; teacher professional learning, development, knowledge and wellbeing; and school-led research and development and the scale-up of evidence-use.
About the award, Bronwen said:
"It has been a privilege to have supervised some fantastic students, seeing them develop their academic expertise and make valuable contributions to knowledge over the long and sometimes difficult - but ultimately very worthwhile and satisfying - doctoral journey. To be recognised for my support by those students is immensely rewarding."
