Sheffield Hallam University has commenced an exciting collaboration with Guildhawk, a global leader in language technology. This pioneering collaboration aims to revolutionise the way datasets are used for training machine learning models. The focus is upon multilingual work essential in sectors such as medical, engineering, and safety. Inadequate or biased labelling can lead to AI 'hallucinations' – generating incorrect or prejudiced responses – which can have dire consequences in high-stakes industries. This partnership seeks to address these challenges head-on by developing innovative methods to improve dataset labelling, thereby enhancing the reliability and integrity of AI systems. Leading the academic team in machine learning, joined by recent graduate Shashwat Upadhyay, the new Machine Learning Engineer who will lead this project.

This reflects a strategic partnership between Sheffield Hallam University and Guildhawk, supported by the UK government's Innovate UK. The partnership underscores the commitment of both institutions and the UK government to drive forward technological advancements and apply them to industry-specific challenges.

"At Guildhawk, we believe that language is the heartbeat of global innovation. This collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University is a testament to our vision of a world where technology understands every language flawlessly. By joining forces with the brilliant minds at Sheffield Hallam, we are not just creating smarter AI, we are crafting a future where technology empowers every voice, in every language, across every industry. This is more than a partnership; it's a commitment to excellence and inclusivity in the digital age.", Jurga Zilinskiene MBE, CEO of Guildhawk.

The university and Guildhawk are excited to continue their journey together, confident that the outcomes will have wide ranging impact in terms of business and communication.
