Hi students,
Here’s your 90-second round-up of everything you need to know and do.
Some members of the University and College Union (UCU) have voted to take part in a national strike, from 1-3 December. Strike action is taking place at universities across the UK. We'll reduce the impact on you as much as we can. |
Everyone is now required to wear a face covering (unless exempt) when:
-
moving around indoors
- in all campus spaces unless seated
- using lifts
- you interact with support staff and when asked during teaching
If you are a suspected or confirmed close contact of someone with the Omicron variant, you will be asked to self-isolate for 10 days by NHS Test and Trace, regardless of your age or vaccination status. |
Having difficulty with an assessment? You can Request to Extend a Submission Deadline (RESD) or Request to Repeat an Assessment Attempt (RRAA). Also, find support for carers and for students with a learning contract. |
If you’re planning to study abroad as part of your degree in the next academic year, you can now discover your options, learn about funding, book one-to-one advice, and hear from students. |
You can practice for psychometric tests and digital assessments on our Graduates First portal. Other tools are also available to help you prepare for interviews and aptitude tests. |
Want to stand out to future employers? The Hallam Award recognises all the extra things you do outside of your course, like volunteering, work experience, societies and sport. |
Need help with your reading, writing, or note taking? Try our study apps, now available to all students. Come along to a group session to find out more. |
The University will close for Christmas on Friday, 24 December and will reopen on Tuesday, 4 January. You'll be able to access a range of support throughout this time. |
Hallam Help - your first point of contact when you need advice and support about your studies and life at University, or help to understand the University’s services and processes. The team will help you to access specialist support, if you need it. You can find the answers to frequently asked questions online or you can contact us directly via our live chat service, by phone, email or visiting us on campus at one of our help points in Owen level 5, Adsetts Library and Collegiate Library.
MyHallam - your gateway to Blackboard, My Student Record and all your online tools including wellbeing support and resources.
The Library and Skills Centre - open 24/7 providing a range of learning spaces, including those for individual and group working. We encourage you to book your learning space in advance, but there will be walk up spaces available on a first come basis. The bookshelves are open for browsing and borrowing is self-service.
